Connecting physical manufacturing to the digital realm.

Problem

Hynds needed to enhance production by introducing asset tracking for concrete moulds. The overall benefit would reduce idle times, optimise concrete curing, and enable proactive maintenance based on mould lifespans. This would also move mould maintenance to being a measured, proactive approach on defective products observed in quality assurance.

Solution

We created a custom on-premise software solution to retrieve tracking information from an Impinj RFID antenna network. The backend service ingested raw RFID data from concrete moulds in the manufacturing process. The raw data was processed to track the stage of the concrete mould in the production line and combined with ERP information to provide an accurate record of production.

Results

The insights on the concrete moulds allowed Hynds to improve the efficiency of their production lines for just-in-time manufacturing. This new capability enabled Hynds to have a complete view of their existing processes, resulting in actionable changes that were able to directly reduce downtime, wastage, and errors.
