Democratising healthcare for Pasifika.

Problem

The Fono medical centres needed a digital platform that could serve Auckland's diverse Pasifika community in multiple languages while handling sensitive healthcare information securely. The challenge was creating an intuitive booking system that worked across language barriers while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Solution

We developed a multilingual platform using Next.js and Contentful, with content available in English, Samoan, Tongan, and Te Reo Māori. The booking system integrates securely with their Patient Management System through custom APIs. Algolia powers a smart search system that works across all languages, helping users find health information quickly.

Results

The platform significantly increased online appointment bookings and saw strong uptake of non-English content. Patient satisfaction improved markedly, and the booking system substantially reduced administrative workload. Most importantly, the Pasifika community now has 24/7 access to healthcare information in their preferred language.
